Consultation on the regulatory response to COVID-19 – Dublin Airport Charges

Jun 30, 2020, 01:00 by Engine Support

The 2019 Determination, published in October 2019, set out airport pricing settlements for Dublin Airport for each of the years 2020-2024. It pre-dates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a dramatic impact on the aviation industry. Many of the assumptions underpinning the 2019 Determination are not reflective of this current reality.

There are a number of possible responses to this crisis involving Interim Reviews of the 2019 Determination, to amend it such that it will continue to meet our objectives in these changed circumstances. We are seeking the views of stakeholders as to whether the current circumstances constitute substantial grounds to carry out an Interim Review of the 2019 Determination and the desirable scope, methodologies and timeline for any such reviews. We are seeking views on the various issues and potential options identified by the Commission in the consultation document. We also welcome views on any other issues relating to airport charges regulation arising from the current circumstances, which stakeholders may have identified.

The consultation document is here. Responses should be marked ‘Response to Consultation on the price regulation response to COVID-19 – Dublin Airport Charges’ and preferably be sent by email to info@aviationreg.ie. The deadline for responses is 5 pm, 18 August 2020.
