Course Description
This course delivers a shortened version of the IAA advanced SMS course, focusing solely on the ICAO SMS components of safety risk management and safety assurance. This one-day version of the advanced SMS course may be beneficial for delegates with specific SMS roles and responsibilities, or as refresher training in those areas.
The course will draw on the ICAO SMS Framework, EU aviation safety regulatory framework for management systems, plus instructors’ experiences and observations from the IAA's oversight activities.
The advanced SMS training places emphasis on assessing SMS maturity by utilising the EASA Management System Assessment Tool (MSAT) guidance material along with practical group work done through a case study.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the training, delegates will have advanced their knowledge on ICAO safety risk management and safety assurance implementation. Delegates will be able to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of an organisation's SMS for safety risk management and safety assurance components. Participants will also benefit from the latest thinking on SMS, work through examples of best practice and the latest regulatory changes and polices towards SMS.
