The IAA is a wholly-owned state company operating under the Companies Acts (1963 to 2005), the Irish Aviation Authority Act (1993) and the Air Navigation and Transport Acts (1936 to 1998). The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform is the main shareholder in the company, holding all but one share in the company, the remaining share is held by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport.

The IAA’s Audit and Risk Committee, appointed in March 2021 for the current term has the following members:

 

  • Marie Bradley – Chair of the Committee
  • Cian Blackwell
  • Eimer O’Rourke

 

As required by the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies, the members of the Audit and Risk Committee must collectively and do possess the appropriate range of skills to perform its functions to the required standard.  There is a formal process for assessing the skills mix in the Code.  This has been applied and the position is reviewed regularly.  The Code specifies recent relevant experience in the following areas:

  • Recent Financial Experience
  • Risk Assessment
  • Technical/Specialist Areas
