Platinum Travel Limited has ceased trading - notice to all customers
This business has ceased to trade with effect from 19th December 2024
The Irish Aviation Authority operates consumer protection schemes. You may be covered if you purchased a package from Platinum Travel Limited and this package includes travel departing Ireland. You may also be covered if you bought travel only commencing in Ireland.
Customers with current bookings:
Check with your airline and with your accommodation provider to see if your tickets and/or accommodation are still valid and have been paid by the travel agent.
1. If your airline says you can travel and if you have established your accommodation has been paid for, you can proceed with your travel plans.
2. If your airline says you can travel but you have established that your accommodation is not paid for you can:
a) Proceed with your travel plans, pay for your accommodation yourself and then claim a refund of the original cost of your accommodation from the IAA
b) choose not to travel and claim a refund from the IAA.
3. If your accommodation has been paid for but your flights are not valid you can:
a) proceed with your travel plans, book and pay for your flight yourself and then claim a refund of the original cost of your flight from the IAA
b) choose not to travel and claim a refund from the IAA.
4. If your airline says you do not have a valid ticket and your accommodation is not paid, you cannot proceed with your original travel plans and you can claim your original costs back from the IAA.
What if I am currently abroad?
Refund Credit Notes
If you were issued with a Refund Credit Note from Platinum Travel Limited you may be entitled to a refund from the Refund Credit Note scheme, if your booking was a package that included travel, departing Ireland.
How can I make a claim?
For customers who bought either travel alone or a travel package commencing in Ireland a claim form is available at the link at the top of this page. You must submit your claim form to the IAA by post only within 120 days of the collapse of the business, Friday 18th April 2025. The IAA will then assess these claims to determine the amount due to the claimant.
Unfortunately, no other customers are covered by the schemes. If you are one of these customers, we advise you to look at the chargeback policy of your credit card/debit card provider and/or any insurance you may have in place.
