See also Note 2 & 3 and PLAM 024

When applying for a licence or upgrading to another licence you must send all your logbooks for inspection. If you do not wish to send the logbooks, you may send in all the scanned pages from all of the logbooks which have been certified by an official notary as true copies of the logbook’s contents.

If applying for a rating, certificate or extension of privileges, then send only the pages required to show compliance with the requirement for issue of the rating, certificate or privilege/s and ensure you certify the pages - AMC1 FCL.050(e),(j)

LBQ.3.  Do I have to still send my original logbook especially during COVID times?

Yes – if applying for a licence or upgrading to another licence.

LBQ.4.  Do I need to get every single PICUS hour signed off, or just to meet the requirements?

See also PLAM 024 & AMC1 FCL.050

Yes, if those hours are to be included the total hours recorded in a logbook. A co-pilot may log as PIC flight time flown as PICUS when all the duties and functions of PIC on that flight were carried out in such a way that the intervention of the PIC in the interest of safety was not required, provided that such PICUS time is countersigned by the PIC.

Hours claimed as PICUS Hours not certified by the PIC cannot be included in the total flying time and used for the issue of a licence.

The IAA will not accept logbooks that are not compliant with the FCL.050, AMC1 FCL.050 and PLAM 024.

LBQ.5.  Can I have my employer / head of training stamp my logbook to confirm the hours as true, so I don’t need signatures?

See also Note 2 & 3 and PLAM 024

No, not as the primary method of demonstrating compliance with the requirements of EU Aircrew Regulation (Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1178/2011.  The IAA requires that an applicant submits compliant logbooks to demonstrate they have the experience required for the issue of the Licence that is being applied for.

All training received shall be certified by the instructor from whom it was received, not by an or Head of Training. Each flight shall be certified by the instructor responsible for the flight – AMC1 FCL.050(b)(1)(ii) & (4)

A letter from an employer or training organisation may supplement a submission but is not acceptable as the primary evidence of meeting an experience requirement. This may only be done through producing a logbook complaint with FCL.050, AMC1 FCL.050 and PLAM 024

LBQ.6.  Do you need all training flights signed off?

See also Note 2 & 3 and PLAM 024
