Travel Agent and Tour Operator licences are generally issued for a period of 12 months and must be applied for each year. A licence will run from either May or November each year.

If you are currently licensed by the Irish Aviation Authority, we will contact you well in advance of your licence expiry date with the application form and requirements.

To be considered for a new Travel Agent or Tour Operator licence the following basic requirements must be met (along with all other requirements as per the licence application process):

  • The business must be registered and established in Ireland.
  • An audited opening balance sheet showing capitalisation/shareholders’ funds of at least €25,000 must be submitted.

If you wish to make an application for a new Travel Agent or Tour Operator licence, please contact the Travel Trade team by emailing traveltrade@iaa.ie with details of your proposed business. We will be able to assist and provide an application form where appropriate.

Please note under Section 20 of the Transport (Tour Operators and Travel Agents) Act, 1982 it is an offence if a travel agent or tour operator trades without a licence.
