Travel Agent and Tour Operator licences are generally issued for a period of 12 months and must be applied for each year. A licence will run from either May or November each year.

If you are an existing licence holder, we will contact you well in advance of your licence expiry date with information on how to apply for the next licensing period.

To be considered for a new Travel Agent or Tour Operator licence, the IAA requires a pre-application meeting in order to understand fully the type of travel business proposed and to explain the application process and requirements.  A full application pack will be supplied if the IAA determines that your company meets the necessary requirements for a licence.

It is important to note that if successful in securing a licence, there are ongoing financial monitoring requirements and regulatory deadlines which will apply.

If you wish to make an application for a new Travel Agent or Tour Operator licence, please contact the Travel Trade team by emailing traveltrade@iaa.ie with details of your proposed business to arrange the pre-application meeting.

Please note under Section 20 of the Transport (Tour Operators and Travel Agents) Act, 1982 it is an offence if a travel agent or tour operator trades without a licence.
