WOW air has ceased operations: UPDATE

We are aware that Icelandair and Aer Lingus are offering rescue fares:

Aer Lingus has issued the following statement:

Following WOW Air’s cessation of trading, Aer Lingus can confirm that it is offering impacted WOW Air passengers special rescue fares*, in accordance with our voluntary agreement** with International Air Transport Association (IATA), and subject to availability on the Aer Lingus network.  Those wishing to avail of these rescue fares should contact the following numbers after 18:30/6:30 pm this evening 1890 800600 (from Ireland)/ 00353 1 886 8822 (from Europe) / 0333 006 6920 (from UK) / 516 622 4222 (from US) and 800 474 7424 (from Canada).

* WOW Air passengers scheduled to fly between now and 11th April

** IATA Agreement:  Voluntary repatriation assistance to passengers stranded as a result of financial failure by another airline, October 2014

Information to passengers

  • If you purchased a ticket using a credit or debit card, chargeback may be an option. Please contact your card provider for further details.
  • If you have taken out travel insurance, it may include airline failure cover usually known as Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI). The insurance provider should be contacted for further details.
  • If you booked through a code share partner of the airline (or booking agent) please contact them directly.
  • If you booked your ticket as part of a package, please contact your travel agent or tour operator directly.  If you did not purchase your ticket as part of a package, you are advised to self-repatriate by booking directly with other airlines.  Some airlines, including Aer Lingus and Ryanair, offer rescue fares in certain circumstances. 
  • Please do not travel to the airport unless you have booked alternative flights.
