INFORMATION REGARDING THE USE OF GENERAL AVIATION AIRCRAFT DURING THE PERIOD OF TEMPORARY COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

The following information is issued in response to the high volume of enquiries the IAA has received regarding the use of general aviation aircraft in the State during the period of temporary Covid-19 restrictions:

The Irish Government introduced the “EMERGENCY MEASURES IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST (COVID-19) ACT 2020” to make exceptional provision, in the public interest and having regard to the manifest and grave risk to human life and public health posed by the spread of the disease known as Covid-19 and in order to mitigate, where practicable, the effect of the spread of that disease.

The requirements of these Government measures (as amended) can be found here: Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (Covid-19) Act 2020

These requirements are a matter of Government policy. The IAA have no statutory powers to issue any form of exemptions or alleviations to these requirements.

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sports have published the following Covid-19 Aviation Measures: Dept Transport, Tourism and Sport: COVID-19 Aviation Measures

This information will be updated as the temporary Covid-19 restrictions evolve.
