The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) is assisting the Department of Transport’s Air Accident Investigation Unit in its investigation into the disappearance of an Irish Coast Guard helicopter this morning. 

The crew were in contact with our Air Traffic Control Centre at Shannon, it is ever more tragic that they went missing during a rescue mission. We work with the coastguard helicopter crews on a daily basis and know many of the crews personally. The thoughts of the IAA Board, management and staff are with our colleagues in the Irish Coast Guard and the families of all those on board the helicopter.
