The Irish Aviation Authority Strongly Supports the Introduction of a New Route from Cork to Boston

25 Sep 2015

25th September 2015: The Irish Aviation Authority strongly supports the introduction of a new route from Cork to Boston by Irish airline, Norwegian Air International (NAI). This new, direct route is set to commence in May 2016 and will be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Norwegian Air International (NAI) is an Irish subsidiary of the Norwegian group.

NAI also plans to introduce a Cork to Barcelona route in May 2016 and a direct service between Cork and New York in 2017 on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

IAA Chief Executive, Eamonn Brennan said: ‘We are delighted to hear the announcement by Norwegian Air International of new direct services between Cork and the USA. This is great news for Cork and for the southern region and a real sign of confidence in the demand for direct Trans-Atlantic services from Cork. The new routes to the USA will be subject to the normal Ireland/USA approvals process and we look forward to these routes commencing. It is also great to see the introduction of the Cork to Barcelona route by NAI, which will provide another strong transport connection from the south of Ireland to continental Europe”.
