Temporary Airspace Restrictions Introduced for EU Presidency Events

Temporary airspace restrictions are in effect in parts of Dublin and Cork as part of Ireland’s hosting of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The restrictions include temporary geozones and Temporary Restricted Areas (TRAs) established by An Garda Síochána and the Defence Forces to support the safe and secure operation of official events taking place over the coming days.

Airspace users are reminded to check all relevant NOTAMs and published restrictions before operating and to ensure compliance with any measures that apply to their area of operation.

Affected areas include Dublin from 1–2 July and Cork from 1–3 July, with restrictions varying by location and altitude as follows:

Dublin

Temporary Geozones

  • T23 (An Garda Síochána): Effective from 1 July at 00:01 until 2 July at 06:00, covering the entire Dublin CTR from the surface to 5,000 ft AMSL.
  • T28 (Defence Forces): Effective 1 July from 08:00 to 23:59, from the surface to 4,000 ft AMSL.

Temporary Restricted Areas (TRAs)

  • East Coast TRA: Effective 1 July from 08:00 to 23:59, from the surface to 4,000 ft AMSL.
  • Baldonnel TRA: Effective 1 July from 08:00 to 23:59, from the surface to 4,000 ft AMSL.

Cork

Temporary Geozones

  • T24 (An Garda Síochána): Effective from 1 July at 07:00 until 3 July at 20:00, centred around Cork city, from the surface to 5,000 ft AMSL.
  • T29 (Defence Forces): Effective from 2 July at 09:00 until 3 July at 20:00, located on the south coast of Cork, from the surface to 3,000 ft AMSL.

Temporary Restricted Areas (TRAs)

  • Cork City: Effective from 1 July at 07:00 until 3 July at 20:00, centred around Cork city, from the surface to 5,000 ft AMSL.

Please note that a TRA with the same horizontal and vertical extent as T29 is expected to be published soon
