The IAA’s traffic figures for October 2015 indicate that total flights in Irish airspace have increased by 7.1% when compared to October 2014. There was an average of 1,660 daily flights during October 2015, with the busiest day being 8^th October with 1,875 flights in Irish airspace.

Dublin traffic climbed by 9.4% during October, when compared to the same month last year, whilst there was an increase of 8% in Ireland’s en route traffic movements (flights that pass through Irish airspace but do not land), in comparison to October 2014.  North Atlantic Communications flights (Europe / North America) saw an increase of 9% in October 2015, when compared to October 2014.

There were 29,104 en route traffic movements and 39,609 North Atlantic Communications flights during October 2015.

According to EUROCONTROL, during October, seven of Ireland’s Top ten “Airport Pairs” showed growth (or neutral growth), when compared to October 2014. The most significant growth was for London/City – Dublin (+40.7%), London/Gatwick – Dublin (+9.2%), Paris/Charles de Gaulle – New York (+8.7%) and Manchester – Dublin (+6.3%).

In relation to international arrivals and departures, the commercial terminal traffic for Shannon, Dublin and Cork airports was up by 5.5% in October 2015, when compared to October 2014. 

Individually, the October 2015 figures for the three State airports, when compared to the same month in the previous year are:

• Dublin up 9.4% with an average of 551 daily commercial movements. 
• Cork down 1.1%, with an average of 54 daily commercial movements.
• Shannon down 19.1% with an average of 53 daily commercial movements.
