IAA Welcomes ACI, IATA and ICAO to AVSEC World 2015

28 Oct 2015

28th October 2015: The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) was delighted to welcome AVSEC World to Dublin this week (26th - 28th October) at the Convention Centre Dublin.

In its 24 year history, this was the first time the agenda for this important aviation security event was jointly developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The conference was opened by Paschal Donohoe, Minister Transport, Tourism and Sport, as well as Tony Tyler, Director General IATA; Angela Gittens, DG ACI; and Dr. Fang Liu, Secretary General ICAO.

Eamonn Brennan, Chief Executive, IAA participated in the first high level panel, focusing on the ever-growing cyber security threat. He said: ‘The AVSEC World conference went very well this week. I'm particularly pleased with the growing focus on the development of Security Management Systems (SeMS) for the industry. This approach mirrors the success of Safety Management Systems that we've seen in the Irish civil aviation industry and worldwide and we're encouraging the industry to adopt best practice’.

The conference focused on many other key areas, including the Aftermath of MH17, Drones & Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems and Foreign Terrorist Fighters.

IAA was delighted to host the delegates at a Gala Celtic Ball at the RDS to showcase the best of Irish culture and hospitality.
