Thessaloniki Forum on Airport Charges: Recommendations on Remedies and Benchmarking

Jan 31, 2020, 00:00 by Engine Support

The Thessaloniki Forum of European Airport Charges Regulators has published two guidance reports to assist in the implementation of the Airport Charges Directive (2009/12/EC).

The first report focuses on providing remedies available to Independent Supervisory Authorities to address potential misuse of significant market power by airports. We chaired this working group.

The second report discusses best practices in conducting benchmarking of airport charges. We participated in this working group.

These reports were written by working groups of the Forum, including the Commission. The reports have been adopted by the Forum as a whole.

The Forum’s mission is to advise the European Commission on the implementation of the Airport Charges Directive and to promote best practices in the economic regulation of airports. The Forum will continue its work on other topics in 2020.
