Commission for Aviation Regulation[i] Notice regarding Premier Irish Golf Tours Limited - CLAIMS DEADLINE EXPIRED

Tuesday, 11 September 2018: The claims process for Premier Irish Golf Tours trading as Premier World Travel and Premier Irish Golf Tours has now closed. The Commission is actively processing all received claims to be completed in the coming weeks. 

 

Wednesday, 11 July 2018: Premier Irish Golf Tours Limited, trading as Premier World Travel and Premier Irish Golf Tours, has ceased trading. It was licensed by the Commission for Aviation Regulation until 30th April 2018 to sell packages that commenced in Ireland[ii].

The Commission operates a consumer protection scheme and, if you find you are out of pocket, you may be covered by this scheme.

Am I covered by the consumer protection scheme?

You are covered by the consumer protection scheme if you purchased a package before 30th April 2018 from Premier Irish Golf Tours Ltd (trading as Premier World Travel and Premier Irish Golf Tours) and this package includes travel that commences in Ireland. You are also covered if you bought travel (alone) commencing in Ireland before 30th April 2018.

Unfortunately, no other customers are covered by the scheme. If you are one of these customers, we advise you to look at the charge back policy of your credit/debit card provider and/or any holiday insurance you may have in place. 

What if I purchased from this travel agent but I have not left Ireland yet?

As a first step, contact your airline (or travel provider if not an airline) to find out if your flight has been paid for.  Next check if your accommodation (and anything else you booked as part of your package) has been paid for. 

If your flight has been paid for but your accommodation (or other part of the package) has not, you can book new accommodation (or other part of the package) and submit a claim to the Commission for the original cost.  Alternatively, you can submit a claim to the Commission for a full refund of the original cost of the package.

What if I am currently on a holiday which I purchased through this travel agent?

As a first step, find out if your accommodation and any other part of your package has been paid for. 

If your accommodation and return ticket to Ireland has been paid for, continue with your holiday. 

If your accommodation (or other parts of the package) have not been paid for, you will need to pay that money yourself and make a claim to the Commission as soon as you get home. 

It is critical that you keep all receipts and include these in your claim.

[i] All tour operators and travel agents trading in Ireland are required to be licensed and bonded by the Commission for Aviation Regulation to sell overseas travel originating in Ireland to destinations outside Ireland or Northern Ireland. 

The Commission has four main roles under the broad heading of travel trade licensing:

licensing travel agents and tour operators buying and selling overseas travel;
administering a bonding scheme for travel agents and tour operators;
processing claims for refunds and repatriation in the event of a travel agent or tour operator going out of business; and
investigating instances of alleged illegal trading and, when necessary, prosecuting illegal traders.

 

Any entity whose licence has expired can continue to trade to service bookings entered into when licensed and also can carry out non-licensable business.  The entity cannot take on any new business for travel out of Ireland without a licence. The Commission regularly updates its list of current licence holders together with their trade names and licence numbers. More information can be found at www.aviationreg.ie.

 

[ii] This company was licensed to sell packages commencing in Ireland until 30th April 2018.  After this date, it was entitled to continue servicing these bookings.  The company could, also, continue to sell packages that did not commence in Ireland as these are not covered by the Commission’s licensing and consumer protection arrangements.
