Appeal Panel for IAA Determination

Aug 9, 2012, 01:00 by Engine Support

On 3 August 2012 the Commission was notified by the Department of Transport that an Appeal Panel has been set up to review the 2011 Determination governing the charges that the Irish Aviation Authority can collect for aviation terminal services.

The Appeal Panel will have up to three months to decide whether to refer matters back to the Commission. It is for the Appeal Panel to decide on its own process and timetable, subject to concluding within the time allowed.

Should anything be referred to the Commission, we will have two months from the date of the referral to either affirm or amend our determination. On previous occasions when Appeal Panels have referred matters back to the Commission, we have afforded all parties an opportunity to make submissions prior to concluding our work.

The 2011 Determination was published on 24 October 2011. It sets a cap on aviation terminal service charges at Cork, Dublin and Shannon airports for the period 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2015.
