New Safety Reporting Portal on ECCAIRS 2

22 Dec 2020
EASA have advised that the new version of the EU Reporting Portal is planned to go live on 05 Jan 2021. However, they have also advised that the portal will be under maintenance from 01 Jan to 05 Jan 2021 to implement the new changes.

If there is any issues with submitting an occurrence report through the EU Portal over the holidays, it is acceptable to make your report by sending an email to and copying your inspector. As always, if the occurrence is of a significant nature, it is best to contact your inspector directly without delay.

Training for all aviation stakeholders will be uploaded to this website when the new version of the portal becomes available. In the meantime, training on how to use the current version of the EU Portal remains pertinent because the requirements in terms of report information remain applicable when using ECCAIRS 2.

Background Information

In 2017, following a strategic action taken by the JRC, DG Move and EASA, it was decided to move all ECCAIRS related technical activities to EASA. ECCAIRS 2 project was launched, based on modern IT technologies (cloud-based), allowing a more efficient central architecture and combining the European Aviation Safety Reporting Portal, the “national” ECCAIRS database and the European Central Repository in one web-based solution.

ECCAIRS 2 will bring the following benefits:

  • State of the art IT technology, secured central architecture, private cloud environment, managed by EASA.
  • Integrated cybersecurity protocols, with Multi-Factor-Authentication and fully encrypted data.
  • Compatibility with all internet browsers and operating systems.
  • User-friendly interfaces.
  • All updates, fixes, enhancements for both the Software and the Taxonomy values immediately available for users.
  • Central support via built-in “helpdesk” to report issues, ask questions, propose improvements.
  • Integration into Data4Safety programme of the EC/EASA, subject to strict data protection as per EU 376/2014: advanced analytics, insights and auto-improved data quality to support aviation safety.

As part of ECCAIRS 2, the Aviation Safety Reporting Portal will be included on the ECCAIRS 2 web platform.
