FAQ's

If you would like to propose using an EASA approved ATO for an examiner standardisation course, please send the following documents for review to examiners@iaa.ie before approval can be given to attend the course:

1. ATO EASA Certificate
2. ATO approval to carry out EASA Examiner Standardisation Course
3. Layout of course (details of IAA specific requirements as per FCL.1015)
4. Completed RPPL.F.399E Pre-requisites for Examiners Request Form (initial application only)

These documents will be reviewed. If they meet the requirements, you will be approved to carry out the course.

Subsequently, the relevant assessment of competence should be individually arranged as per IAA requirements (PLAM004) in due course. Contact regarding prior approval for the assessment of competence can be made through examiners@iaa.ie. 

The preference of examiner for assessment of competence is:

1. IAA Inspector
2. IAA Senior Examiner
3. Member State Senior Examiner (specifically tasked by the IAA)

The tasking will depend on resource availability – which will depend on proposed date and location.

If you have a TRE certificate and lose your medical, you can continue to exercise the SFI/SFE privileges inherent within the TRI/TRE certificate, until the expiry date of the type rating or TRI/TRE certificate, whichever occurs earlier. And in this case do not require additional paperwork.

If you would like to gain the specific privilege of SFI and SFE you will be required to meet all of the prerequisites for the applications (Personnel Licensing Forms) and conduct the relevant assessment of competences.

The assessment of competences required for the revalidation of your TRI and TRE certificates can be used for the purpose of gaining SFI and SFE privileges.
