IAA Publishes State Safety Plan 2013-2016

24 Jul 2013

The IAA has published the State Safety Plan for aviation 2013-2016. The primary purpose of the State Safety Programme is to ensure the continuous improvement of safety standards in Ireland. This is achieved by focussing our resources in the areas that present the greatest risk to aviation safety and implementing actions that will best mitigate these risks.

The Safety Plan 2013‐2016 outlines to our stakeholders where the IAA Safety Regulation Division will, in addition to the normal compliance based requirements, target oversight resources in the next three years with the purpose of fulfilling the State Safety Programme objective of reducing accidents and incidents.

The Plan contains safety initiatives to address the key safety performance indicators pertinent to Irish industry as published in the IAA Annual Safety Review.

The Plan also integrates the key safety initiatives of ICAO, as well as those in Europe, by coordinating with the European Commission, the European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA), Eurocontrol and other state national safety plans.

The Safety Plan is a rolling 3 year plan that was first produced in 2010 (State Safety Plan 2010‐2012). It is our intention to update the plan on a regular basis (currently annually), depending on the level of activity of the Plan.
