On the 1st January 2013, the IAA became responsible for the oversight of civil aviation security in Ireland, following a review by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.
Security oversight involves inspections and audits of airports, air carriers, cargo companies, airport suppliers and suppliers of in-flight services.
