An Aeronautical Radio Communication Officer (known as Radio Officer) is an individual who communicates from Air Traffic Control or Base Station to airplanes or to Base Stations. Such person generally works for communication duties on ground.

In Ireland the licence is issued by the Irish Aviation Authority and follows a course of training that includes theoretical knowledge, practical training, gaining of experience and assessment.

The Operations section of the Irish Aviation Authority advertises from time to time for positions as Radio Officers at its facility in Ballygirreen, Co. Clare.
