14:00 Update - Bardarbunga Volcanic System

Nov 13, 2015, 00:11 AM by User Not Found

A fissure eruption began overnight at a lava field in the vicinity of the Bardarbunga volcano in Iceland.

As a result the Icelandic Met Office raised the aviation colour code over the eruption site to red. This has now been downgraded to orange. No volcanic ash has so far been detected.

All operations in Irish and European airspace remain normal. The IAA is liaising with all relevant organisations and is closely monitoring the situation. If any threats to aviation arise we will quickly inform the travelling public.
