Flight Simulators and Training Devices (FSTD)

The IAA FSTD Standards Section of the Flight Operations Department qualifies and approves devices as follows:

  1. It evaluates and issues initial or renewal Qualification certificates for all training devices located within the State, and selected devices overseas, in accordance with JAR FSTD A or JAR FSTD H, as applicable, and the associated advisory material.
  2. It issues user approval certificates for all training devices for which credits may be sought.

An applicant for the issue or renewal of a Qualification Certificate should note the following:

The procedures of JAA Advisory Material and Guidance Material (A&GM) Section 6: Synthetic Traning Devices (STD/FSTD) are followed by the IAA.  The acceptable means of compliance is the Advisory Circulars Joint (ACJ's) to JAR FSTD A and JAR FSTD H.  An alternative means of compliance proposed by an applicant may need to be agreed with EASA.
